Oltrepò Pavese wines

Oltrepò Pavese has an ancient tradition of wine-making. The vineyards benefit from an excellent microclimate, well-drained soils rich in clay and calcareous marl, and a terroir often compared to Barolo. It is the third Italian denomination per hectare in production and the first national area when it comes to the Pinot Noir. The offer is wide: Pinot Nero, the barbera reds, and riesling whites, as well as sweet dessert wines such as Sangue di Giuda (Judas’ blood). Typical from the Oltrepò is the slightly sparkling Bonarda red wine, to be drunk young, with its fruity, intense palate.

Vigevano
